When the Nashville Predators and the visiting Calgary Flames square up on Thursday night, both teams will be aiming for their third straight victory.
Huberdeau went 12 games without a point before snapping an 18-game goal drought. In his last two games, he has two points (one goal, one assist).
It had a pleasant feeling. Huberdeau, whose last goal came on November 20th, stated, “It’s been a while.” It was beneficial to establish synergy on our line, in my opinion, as we have been playing better lately. Obviously, that one felt terrific, especially since it ended in victory.”
Calgary jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first game of a four-game road trip. The Wild closed the gap to 2-1 in the second half, but Coleman added an empty-net goal in the dying moments and Markstrom denied Minnesota any more points.
“I felt this building was a good place to start,” Huberdeau remarked. “It’s not simple. I believe they pulled back after that. That was inevitable, as we all knew. ‘Marky’ got to his feet. Individuals were obstructing shots. We are a resilient squad, that’s what it is. We achieved a tremendous victory.”
Tuesday, Nashville outperformed the visiting Chicago Blackhawks 3-0 thanks to excellent defensive play. The Predators have points in three straight games (2-0-1). Juuse Saros made 21 saves for his second shutout of the season.
Ryan O’Reilly and Gustav Nyquist each scored goals and provided an assist.”It was nice to get the win back at home, and good to see (Saros) get the shutout there,” Nyquist commented. “It was a challenging game. They are closely inspecting. Perhaps because it’s just 1-0, you become a little shy and don’t want to make a mistake. Our second period wasn’t my favorite, but it was fantastic to finish the task.”
With his first-period power-play goal, Nyquist made it six games with five goals and four assists on his point run. It was also his second multi-point performance in the previous three games. He has amassed 29 points (nine goals, 20 assists) in 13 fewer games than his 2022–2023 point total of 27.
“He’s so fun to play with, just the smarts and the little plays he makes and the way he skates and just creates — it’s so fun to play with,” O’Reilly said on Nyquist. We did a fantastic job, in my opinion. Additionally, he simply makes playing with him so easy; he needs to be that spark for us offensively.”
With an upper-body ailment, Predators defenceman Tyson Barrie has missed the previous four games and is still considered day-to-day. The third and last meeting for the teams will be held here. Nov. 7, Calgary pulled out a 4-2 victory at home thanks to three goals in the third period; on Nov. 22, the Predators tied the game at home thanks to 24 saves from Saros.
