Regarding the Bears’ decision with the first overall pick in this offseason, everyone has an opinion. Alex Brown, an analyst for NBC Sports Chicago in Chicago, shared his views following the game after seeing Love pass for 316 yards on 27 completions to lead the Bears to a sixth consecutive season sweep.
That’s the kind of quarterback I want, Brown declared. It is what I desire. That’s not what we have. Green Bay has a quarterback that I want. A quarterback who can make these throws and find the dang football is what I want. That’s my desired outcome. Why is it that we can never have it?
And let’s continue searching for it if we don’t find it. But once we do that, I believe we’ll be in a position to contend as a playoff club every year. These are Green Bay’s dark years.Five hundred. We had first choice throughout those lean years. This is just absurd. Come on, let’s get a freaking QB. We should go obtain one that can assist us in winning, just as [the Packers] have.”
Fields completed the game with 148 yards on 11 of 16 plays. However, he was shorthanded going into the game since Lucas Patrick, the starting center, and wide receiver Darnell Mooney were not available. In the first quarter, Nate Davis, the starting right guard, also exited due to a foot injury.
Nevertheless, Fields had an opportunity to send a clear message into the offseason by removing their fierce opponent from the postseason, so Sunday’s game at Lambeau Field had a lot of significance.
