Balogun believes he can overcome Monaco’s goal slump.
The 22-year-old told the media on Thursday that he still has faith in his ability to consistently find the net, despite the ongoing doubts about his form.
According to statements made public by Get French Football News, Balogun stated, “As an attacker, I don’t think this goal drought is good.” It adds to the complexity of your situation. For me, the key to performing well during this slump is to be simple and find other ways to support the squad. I’m aware of the trait I possess, and it doesn’t cause me to question who I am.
“It’s about keeping your cool. I’m positive that I won’t finish my career without scoring! I’m not giving it much thought. Sooner rather than later, I’ll have my opportunity to score, and I’m confident that the rhythm will continue. It’s not shocking since I’ve seen it happen to other elite athletes throughout their careers. I’m confident it will strengthen me, and it’s a terrific opportunity for me to learn how to manage myself in situations like this.”
Before Monaco spent $42 million to purchase Balogun permanently from Arsenal, he had a stellar season on loan at Reims the previous season. There has been discussion that Reims and Monaco have different styles; Reims likes to play on the counter, while Monaco prefers to control possession more. This might be the reason for Balogun’s drought.
When questioned about such distinctions, the striker acknowledged that this season has been an adjustment when it comes to trying to score against deeper-lying defenses.
“I can’t see anything that is blatantly different in terms of style of play,” he stated. “Our goal in Monaco is to establish possession-based assaults and gain greater dominance. That is undoubtedly novel. clubs approach Monaco, one of the greatest clubs in the division, with the intention of winning, so perhaps they arrange their lineups differently and field a more crowded defense. That presents a distinct difficulty, of course.”
In the Coupe de France round of 32 on Saturday, Balogun will try to get back on the scoreboard when Monaco visits Ligue 2 team Rodez.
