Lakers Discussed Potential Blockbuster Trade for ‘Bona Fide Star’ Such as Trae Young, per Report
It’s still up for debate whether the Los Angeles Lakers can contend for an NBA championship with their current team or by making a few small trades. But if the team’s front office and vice president of basketball operations, Rob Pelinka, aren’t convinced about that, it seems like they’ve already talked about going all in.
According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, who named two individuals specifically, the Lakers have had internal discussions about sending three draft picks along with players already on the roster in an effort to acquire a “bona fide star.”
Even though the Lakers have been linked to a number of players recently, most notably Dejounte Murray, Young’s teammate, it would be a huge deal if the organization could sign Mitchell or Young. It would also probably indicate that Pelinka and company are open to trying the three-star strategy again by include a well-known player in addition to LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
