JD Davison, a two-way guard for the Celtics, gets suspended for breaking team rules.
The nature of the offense and the duration of the ban were not disclosed by the team. Guard JD Davison of the Maine Celtics has been suspended for breaking team rules, the team stated. The team’s injury report for their game on Tuesday night included the announcement. After the Boston Celtics defeated the Pacers 129-124 on Tuesday, Joe Mazzulla, the team’s coach, was not questioned about it.
For Maine, Davison is having a tremendous season, averaging 20.6 points, 9.2 assists, and 5.6 rebounds. He was chosen to participate in the NBA All-Star Weekend “Up Next” game for the G-League the following month.
Mazzulla warned Davison not to let the recognition get to his head following the Celtics’ victory over the Pelicans on Monday night.
Mazzulla told reporters, “As long as he knows that’s not what gets him, as far as the Celtics go,” MassLive reports. “As I mentioned, that’s a fantastic thing. That’s something you should strive for, but I simply don’t want guys to feel like that defines them. That being said, that’s a fantastic individual honor for him.
This season, Davison has made two appearances for the Celtics, averaging three minutes per game. Mazzulla stated that although Davison’s game has improved in Maine, there is still more space for development.
And Mazzulla added, “I’ve watched him develop as a player since he first came here, especially just with his approach to the game and his defense, so that affirmation is great.” However, in the end, everything comes down to the inconstant little things, the defense, the reads, the execution, and the professionalism; it seems like those things are given out over a longer time frame. Thus, I’m hoping he has fun and comprehends the procedure at the same time.
