In the NFL mock draft by Pro Football Network, where do Rattler and Legette stand?
The Kansas City Chiefs selected wide receiver Xavier Legette with the 31st choice in the first round of the draft, making him the first Gamecock chosen by Owen Jones of PFN.
Although the Chiefs made it to the Super Bowl once again, Jones highlights that the receiving group struggled in the last campaign and needs more depth to help quarterback Patrick Mahomes. In relation to Legette, he also said this:
Xavier Legette will soar through the ranks thanks to his unique athleticism once the combine rolls around and we receive testing results. He has a tremendous speed and power profile, and in Kansas City, he might be a great boundary receiver.
According to Pro Football Network, Spencer Rattler was the next Gamecock selected. He was chosen with the 125th pick in the fourth round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Depending on how he does at the Senior Bowl, I think he will be selected in the third round, possibly even as high as the second. He still has to make an impression on front-office executives and scouts at the NFL Combine.
Until the very last day before the draft and sometimes even a few days after, as is well known, several sites will publish various mock drafts. The consensus is that Legette and Rattler had strong performances at the Senior Bowl, and both, particularly Rattler, still have opportunities to raise their stock.
