Sávio, a winger for Girona, has agreed to join Manchester City this summer.
Sávio, a winger for Girona, has decided to join Manchester City this summer; paperwork will be signed soon. Girona has made a surprise run for the La Liga title this season, and Sávio has been a vital member of the team. Premier League and Bundesliga teams have reportedly made proposals for him totaling around €30 million (£25.7 million).
City Football Group (CFG), the parent corporation of Manchester City and numerous other international clubs, owns a portion of Girona. Sávio first signed with Troyes, a French team associated with CFG, in 2022. Last summer, he was loaned to PSV Eindhoven and subsequently Girona. Despite Sávio never playing for Troyes, who are currently 15th in Ligue 2, the player’s registration is still pending with them. After internal talks in December, City decided to move Sávio, and the transfer has now been approved.
This season, Sávio has made 23 appearances for Girona in La Liga, tallying five goals and seven assists. The 19-year-old is committed to making history with Girona as they aim for the championship and a top-four finish. He plans to remain at the team until the summer.
Sávio, who primarily played as a left winger in Spain, is expected to provide Pep Guardiola’s club more competition in wide areas for Jack Grealish, Jérémy Doku, and Oscar Bobb. However, it’s possible that he will sign a contract to return to Girona for the next campaign.
