Kyle Whittingham confronts Utah football players with harsher Big 12 than Pac-12 facts.
“The recruiting footprint has already changed,” stated Whittingham regarding the adjustment. We’ve added more personnel to Texas, which is essentially the hub of the Big-12, because the teams we compete with in the Big-12 are considerably different from what we had in the Pac-12. Whittingham has been building the Utah football roster in addition to researching teams, opponents, rosters, and game plans. Utah signed wide receiver Dorian Singer from USC last month.
After just one season with the Trojans, Singer made his way into the gateway for the second straight time. Although he joined Caleb Williams’ squad and led Arizona and the Pac-12 in receiving in 2022, he only caught 23 receptions for 276 yards and three touchdowns.
Singer’s numbers dropped significantly from the previous season, when he had 66 receptions for 1,105 yards and six touchdowns. This was partly because of the congested wide receiver room in Southern California.
Singer is now on his way to the football program at Utah. In 2024, Texas and Oklahoma will leave for the SEC, and the Utes, Colorado, Arizona, and Arizona State will join the Big 12 Conference. As a result, the landscape of collegiate football will significantly change.
Although there will be a lot of changes for the upcoming season, Utah football coach Kyle Whittingham is aware of the struggle that lies ahead.
