Avalanche goalie to reach landmark against Hurricanes
The Colorado Avalanche are getting ready for tonight’s (February 8) highly anticipated game against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Avalanche will face a true challenge from the Hurricanes, who are among the best teams in the NHL. But, Alexandar Georgiev, the goalie for the Avalanche, will find great significance in this game.
Georgiev will tie Craig Anderson for the 11th most games played by a goalie in Avalanche history with his start tonight. Georgiev will be making his 105th appearance for the team.
From his arrival to the Avalanche last season, Georgiev, 27, has been a mainstay. He played in 62 games the previous season and has played in 42 games so far this season (more than any other goalie in the league). He has recorded a 67-27-9 record, a.911 SV%, a 2.67 GAA, and seven shutouts in that time. It was earlier this month that he appeared in his first All-Star Game.
All things considered, the acquisition of Georgiev from the New York Rangers back in the NHL offseason of 2022 has shown to be a brilliant choice. Observing his performance against the Canes in this noteworthy start from here will be interesting.
