Myles Garrett unexpectedly beat Micah Parsons.
Linebacker Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys responded to a fan page on X (Twitter) to support Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, who defeated him and TJ Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the competition for Defensive Player of the Year.
Parsons, 24, noted that although the stats didn’t quite tell the story, Garrett performed better throughout the entire season. The quantity of double teams against the Browns defender was one of his points of contention.
“A terrible decision! Myles was the superior athlete! Situation’s actuality,” Parsons tweeted. “Myles faced a lot more double teams, which had an impact on the quarterbacks! Fans, please look at the movie instead than the stats!”
Garrett, 28, was not the recipient of the honor. In his short career, Parsons has already made two finals appearances. This year, he finished third. Garrett deserved to win DPOY, and Parsons’ outstanding sportsmanship is evidence that the Cowboys’ star is growing.
Usually he likes to pick fights with NFL players, whether they are joking around or not, but this time he chose to be diplomatic.
With a new defensive coordinator, Parsons is expected to be a finalist for DPOY again next season and has a chance to take home the trophy for the first time.
