Atlanta United’s former midfielder, Amar Sejdic has signed with Nashville SC.
Sejdic, 27, is a five-year MLS veteran who has made appearances for Atlanta United and the Montreal Impact (formerly CF Montreal). He participated in Nashville’s 3-2 victory over Birmingham Legion FC on Wednesday after serving as a trialist during the team’s preseason camp in Florida.
Sejdic, whose parents are Bosnian, was born in Berlin, Germany, and migrated to the US with his family when he was 4 years old. Between 2015 and 2018, he was a player for Maryland. In 78 games, he scored 23 goals, and as a senior, he helped the Terrapins win a national championship.
2019 saw Montreal choose Sejdic in the second round of the MLS SuperDraft. After making 22 appearances during the regular season for Montreal and scoring two goals, he was traded to Atlanta United in the middle of the 2021 campaign.
Over the previous three seasons, Sejdic played in 56 games for Atlanta, starting 37 of them and recording four assists. Sejdic is a proficient passer from central midfield who should mesh well with a reorganized squad based on his career completion percentage of 86.83 percent.
Amar Sejdic, a midfielder, signed with Nashville SC through the 2024โ2025 season, the team announced on Thursday. In December, Nashville traded for Dru Yearwood from the New York Red Bulls and allowed veteran captain Dax McCarty to sign a free agent contract with Atlanta.
General manager of Nashville SC Mike Jacobs, stated in the team’s statement, “Amar is a connector in midfield who is outstanding in possession and balances the other central players on our roster really well.” “His mentality on the field as well as in the locker room makes him a really strong fit for our group.”
