Chaz Davies will participate in the 2024 MotoGP as an Aruba competitor.
As a member of Aruba, Chaz Davies will be returning to the MotoGP paddock this year. Racing’s newest squad. This time around, though, Davies will be racing something a little different.
With Davies’ signing, he will be participating in the MotoE World Championship for the first time since he rode in the 250cc World Championship in 2005. This will be the team’s first full season in a MotoGP support class.
Since then, Davies has established himself as a mainstay of the WorldSBK circuit. He won the Supersport World Championship in 2011 and, in the latter part of the 2010s, emerged as Jonathan Rea’s greatest rival as the rider most capable of regularly challenging for race victories on the Ducati 1199 Panigale.
Davies joined the Aruba.it Racing Ducati squad as a rider coach after leaving the WorldSBK at the end of the 2021 season. He has since assisted Nicolo Bulega in winning the Supersport World Championship last year and Alvaro Bautista in winning two world titles in the previous two seasons. Davies has also participated in the Endurance World Championship with the ERC Ducati squad.
Davies will rejoin the Aruba Cloud team in MotoE for 2024, where he will be riding the Ducati V21L, a bike he helped create with Alex De Angelis and Michele Pirro.
Upon learning of his MotoE participation, Davies stated, “I want to thank Aruba and Stefano Cecconi for believing in me enough to let me take on this new challenge. Our lengthy partnership has also grown in a variety of ways, initially on the Superbike track and then in the last two incredible seasons as a riders’ coach.
I’m proud to say that 2024 will mark my tenth year of employment with Aruba. Having previously had the opportunity to ride the Ducati V21L, my excitement for this new phase has only grown.
“I accepted the Aruba Cloud MotoE team’s offering without second thought because I’ve had a great time riding this unique bike and am looking forward to the opportunity to compete with other riders. My desire to get back on track is immense.
Beginning the same weekend as the MotoGP Portuguese Grand Prix at the same circuit, the MotoE World Championship will take place at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal from March 22โ24.
