Scot Pollard, a former Sacramento Kings player, will get a new heart
A replacement heart is scheduled for Scot Pollard, an NBA player who retired and played much of his career with the Sacramento Kings, on Friday, just days after he was brought to the intensive care unit.
The news was announced on Friday by his spouse, Dawn Pollard, in an Instagram post.As Scot gets ready to be brought to the operating room for his transplant, she can be seen in the shot shaving his head.
They eventually found THE ONE, Dawn said, “after a rollercoaster ride of emotions, a few offers of hearts that got our hopes up and down.” “We are eternally grateful to this donor for the most incredible gift of life.”
After word of his illness leaked last week, things have changed quickly. Finding a heart with a pump large and powerful enough to supply Pollard’s body with blood was difficult due to his height of 6 feet 11 inches.
Due to a hereditary abnormality that was probably brought on by a virus he received in 2021, Pollard’s heart was pumping 10,000 times more frequently than usual each day. According to the Associated Press, Pollard’s father passed away at the age of 54, and half of his siblings share the same illness.
In an attempt to disrupt the signals producing the irregular heartbeats, Pollard took medication and underwent three ablation surgeries. It was suggested that he register at as many transplant hospitals as possible in order to increase his chances.

Despite suffering an ankle injury that ended his season in February, he participated in just 55 seconds of action during the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 2007 NBA Finals run. The following year, he won it all with the Boston Celtics.
Following that season, Pollard retired and pursued acting and broadcasting endeavors. On Day 27, with just eight castaways left, he was voted off of the 32nd season of “Survivor,” where he was a contestant.
