For the first time, Tucker, the team dog of the Seattle Mariners, appears in the media guide.
The largest cheerleader for the Seattle Mariners is now an official member of the squad. The Mariners’ 2024 media guide includes a segment on Tucker the Pup. He’s never been a part of the program before.
Tucker is included in the Coaching Staff section along with the Behind the Scenes squad, which consists of the team’s coaches for mental performance, strength, and conditioning. Even a win-loss record exists: since Tucker joined the Mariners in the 2022 season, the team is 127-104 (.550).
Regarding their dog, the tour leader mentioned that “he likes to run in the outfield, play fetch, and visit the clubhouse kitchen.” Reporter Adam Jude of the Seattle Times first noticed Tucker’s inclusion in the social media media guide.
The group created a social media page for their adopted lab/retriever mix, Tucker, in July 2022.A post from August of the same year included a picture of Tucker reclining on the field and stated, “I’m going to get to hang out at the ballpark all the time, travel with the squad, and enjoy my very own unlimited supply of baseballs.” “It doesn’t get better than this!”
In Tucker’s first season, Seattle ended a 21-year postseason drought, making history. Last year, they finished third in the AL West with an 88-74 record and missed the postseason despite a record-breaking season by Julio Rodríguez. The team’s mascot, Mariner Moose, made his debut at the Kingdome in 1990.
Holden was a walk-on in 2014 when the Milwaukee Brewers noticed him. In addition, Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver inspired the name of the New York Mets’ assistance dog, Seaver, who gives delight to Mets fans on game days.
