Coach of the Boston Bruins updates the injured defenseman
The Bruins are playing their first of four games on the west coast, and Lindholm did not travel with them. After participating in 56 games so far this season, Lindholm will miss his first one on Wednesday.
In the third period of Monday’s shootout victory over the Dallas Stars, Boston’s defenseman stumbled after colliding with Ty Dellandrea behind the Bruins’ net. Skating carefully to the bench, Lindholm stayed there for a short while before heading into the tunnel. Before the injury, he played for 18:32.
It will be obvious that Lindholm is not there. The blue liner is second only to Charlie McAvoy in terms of average ice time per game (23:48). In addition, he has been crucial to the penalty kill and power play.
On Tuesday, the Bruins recalled rookie defenseman Mason Lohrei from Providence to take his position on the roster. For Boston this season, he made 27 appearances. His last game for the Bruins was against the Colorado Avalanche on January 18.
The four-game road trip for the Bruins begins on Wednesday night at Rogers Place against the Edmonton Oilers. The time of the puck drop is 10 p.m. EST
