The Iowa Hawkeyes have been selected for the first-ever Women’s Champions Classic, which features four teams.
It was revealed that Iowa was one of the four teams selected for the first-ever Women’s Champions Classic. It will take place on December 7, 2024, from within Brooklyn, New York’s Barclays Center. The teams playing in the prime time doubleheader are Tennessee, Louisville, Iowa, and Connecticut.
The opponent and kickoff time for Iowa are still to be confirmed. Together, the four programs have won 120 conference crowns, 19 NCAA Division I national championships, 46 Final Four appearances, and more.
The organizers of this Women’s Champions Classic are Horizon Sports & Experiences (HS&E) and Fox Sports together. According to David Levy, Co-CEO of HS&E, “interest in women’s sports continues to experience exponential growth, with basketball leading the way with viewership and attendance records continually being set.”

Fox Sports’ senior vice president, Jordan Bazant, explained why the company is so excited about this first-ever event.
