Jaguars and Vikings Keep Up Their Ties Hunter Danielle
The Jaguars were linked to Hunter twice in 2023, during training camp and at the trade deadline, but the Jaguars ultimately chose to trade with the Vikings for lineman Ezra Cleveland, surrendering only a sixth-round pick in return. Then, earlier this month, during Super Bowl week in Las Vegas, ESPN highlighted Hunter’s possible return to the Jaguars.
And now it appears that some surrounding the Vikings are adding fuel to the fire. Earlier this offseason, The Athletic’s Alec Lewis identified Hunter as a potential match for Jacksonville.
“And then there are the Jaguars, who have shown interest in Hunter during the last year. “They don’t have unlimited cap space for 2024, but they can structure Hunter’s deal to fit their current timeline,” Lewis said. “Trent Baalke, Jacksonville’s fourth-year general manager, will be tasked with fielding a playoff team. If he doesn’t, he’ll most certainly reach the end of his career, which is another reason to believe the Jaguars will chase Hunter.
Most recently, Paul Allen, the Vikings’ play-by-play announcer and a radio broadcaster for KFAN, weighed in, suggesting that Hunter will either be a Viking or a Jaguar.
On the surface, it does not make much sense. The Jaguars are expected to keep Josh Allen on the franchise tag and hope for a bigger deal in the future, while former No. 1 pick Travon Walker has 10 sacks and is clearly a favorite of general manager Trent Baalke.
Despite this, the smoke around Hunter and the Jaguars has yet to clear. Not then, not now, and possibly not for a few weeks
