Coach Cavin Johnson of Kaizer Chiefs is still processing the Nedbank Cup exit, while Moroka Swallows are waiting.
The Chiefs suffered yet another setback as they lost to a team managed by a part-time coach who works as a gynecologist. Johnson is still processing the loss as Amakhosi turns its attention to their Premier Soccer League campaign, which begins on Saturday with a possible shock against Moroka Swallows.
“You are not an interim coach; this is not your job. According to Sowetan Live, Johnson stated, “Not at Kaizer Chiefs.”
Additionally, you don’t do everything if you’re going to operate under the mindset of an interim coach. It is comparable like wanting to fly an airplane halfway through as a pilot. No, that won’t be successful.
“I need to consider that [the elimination from the Nedbank Cup].” Being one of the coaches at Kaizer Chiefs without a trophy is something I still haven’t had time to process,” Johnson continued.
However, it will most likely become clear when the upcoming Nedbank Cup [last 16 matches] take place in the following two weeks.
“It will hit us all when I look at [those games] and realize we’re not there.” However, I’m currently focusing on the upcoming matchup with the Moroka Swallows.
Amakhosi’s sole remaining goal after losing the Nedbank Cup is to win the PSL championship. However, their chances of winning the league championship appear extremely small, and they will almost certainly finish the season without winning a trophy, bringing their trophy drought to nine years.
With one game remaining, the Soweto giants trail log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by 17 points, placing them sixth in the PSL standings. Amakhosi is now getting ready for Saturday’s Soweto Derby matchup against Swallows at FNB Stadium. The fact that Moroka Swallows are on an eight-game league winless streak and lost to an NFD team that is a relegation possibility last weekend gives the Dube Birds a threat to Chiefs.
