Cubs vs. Padres: Prospects, Observations, and Additional Information
Following an incredible batting day, the Padres are sticking with six of the players that started in the lineup yesterday. Three home runs were hit by Fernando Tatis Jr., Ha-Seong Kim, and Luis Campusano as San Diego scored 12 runs.
The three most notable hits from yesterday’s hitters were those three. Kim and Tatis each get a hit, two RBIs, and a home run. Campusano hit a home run and also scored two runs and two RBIs.
Along with Tim Locastro and Tyler Wade, Campusano is one of the three players who are being switched out of today’s starting lineup despite his success. Kyle Higashioka, Eguy Rosario, and Jurickson Profar will cover. Kim is going to be at the front of the lineup as well.
How to Watch
The Padres vs. Cubs game will start at 12:10 p.m. PST and be broadcast on the Fubo TV app. MLB.com will also provide access to the game.
Outlook: Padres 4, Cubs 3.
Afterwards
Today’s starter will be Jhony Brito. Brito has a 5.40 ERA, four strikeouts, and a 1-1 record thus far. Jordan Wicks will get the start for the Cubs. Wicks has been excellent thus far in the Cactus League schedule, with a 2-0 record, 1.93 ERA, and three strikeouts. With an ERA of 5.01, the Cubs are only 20th in the league overall, but one of their finest pitchers, Wicks, might provide the Padres with some serious competition.
The rest of the Padres team will need to come up to support Brito since, at least on paper, the Cubs appear to have the advantage when pitching openers.
