As the troubles of the Soweto giants continue, Kaizer Chiefs are pushed to hire controversial coach Luc Eymael.
Surprisingly, former Orlando Pirates striker Katlego Mashego has requested that Kaizer Chiefs hire Luc Eymael, a Belgian coach.
The well-traveled Belgian coach departed South Africa in 2019 after splitting with Black Leopards, and since he was connected to AmaZulu at the start of the current campaign, there has been more discussion about his potential return.
Since joining Polokwane City during the 2016–17 PSL season, Eymael has resided in South Africa. His time in City was brief because the next season he joined the Free State Stars.
When the 64-year-old mastermind defeated Maritzburg United 1-0 at the Cape Town Stadium in 2018 to win Stars the Nedbank Cup for the first time, history was created.
Mashego said on Sports Night Amplified with Andile, “I don’t know if he is offering himself to Kaizer Chiefs and Chiefs are not interested probably because of other things, but I would give him a chance.”
“I believe he is a talented coach, and he might succeed if he joins a larger team with greater resources than the Free State Stars.
“I simply don’t know what the conversation was like there or how he offered himself to Kaizer Chiefs.” However, I believe the Chiefs should now give everything a shot, including every coach.
Despite the former PSL coach’s expressed interest in the position, it is unclear if Amakhosi will offer it to him. In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eymael has been coaching FC Aigles RDC since January of this year.
