The Dodgers place Clayton Kershaw on the 60-day injured list and acquire Andre Lipcius from the Tigers. Austin Barnes is scratched from the lineup due to an injury.
Pitcher Clayton Kershaw was placed on the 60-day disabled list by the Dodgers in order to create space on the 40-man roster. After recuperating from shoulder surgery he underwent in November, the three-time Cy Young Award winner stated he plans to return in July or August of that year.
Lipcius played in 13 games for the Tigers last season, hitting.286 with a double and a home run. Before being designated for assignment last week, the 25-year-old participated in five spring training games, going 1 for 8 with a double and an RBI.
After spending four seasons in Detroit, where he was selected by the Tigers in the third round of the 2019 draft out of Tennessee, he has a career batting average of.266 with 88 doubles, 38 home runs, and 212 RBIs.
Austin Barnes was injured and was removed from the lineup.
Tuesday’s game against the Angels was supposed to feature Dodgers catcher Austin Barnes in the starting lineup. But just hours before the opening pitch, catcher Chris Okey took his position in the lineup.ย Barnes was removed from the game because of back pain, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed in a pregame press conference.
The Dodgers’ caution with Barnes makes sense because there’s no reason for anyone to play through an injury during spring training.ย Hopefully, Barnes can return to the field soon, as it doesn’t seem like a major deal.
