Joe Flacco: I would feel most comfy in Cleveland.
“I can assure you that, in an equal-opportunity scenario, Cleveland would be my first choice,” Flacco remarked. You now need to enter the realm of “will anyone genuinely give me an opportunity to play?” and every component that goes into it.
But because of the few weeks I spent there and how wonderful the city was, I can’t help but feel a unique connection to Cleveland. Furthermore, I don’t necessarily want that to determine the outcome entirely. Listen, at the end of the day. However, if I have to make a choice in the end, I believe it will be taken into consideration.
Despite leading Cleveland to the postseason with a 4-1 record as a starter, Flacco would open 2024 as Deshaun Watson’s backup. Flacco stated that he feels at ease with that.
“Yes, listen, I’ve definitely given that thought a lot of thought if I return to Cleveland,” Flacco remarked. “I want to play football, of course. It’s also a really, really, really important factor—possibly the most important one. However, it is my point. Without facing some difficult choices, I don’t think you could truly make that choice. After that, you all sit together and decide what’s best. I could put you through a lot of different situations, and those would definitely influence my choice. We don’t have to go through each of those at this time.
“It’s true that Cleveland is an amazing place, and it will undoubtedly have special significance when I make those decisions.”
In his five starts for Cleveland, Flacco completed 60.3% of his throws for 1,616 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. However, Flacco did not do as well in the postseason loss to Houston, throwing for 307 yards, two pick-sixes, and a score.
Joe Flacco’s “first choice” in free agency is the Browns.
Joe Flacco has expressed his desire to rejoin the Cleveland Browns, and the 2024 NFL free agency period is scheduled to start next week. As Flacco prepares to enter the open market, his agency has reportedly made a return to the Browns the main priority, according to Scott Petrak of The Chronicle-Telegraph.
Flacco won NFL Comeback Player of the Year after joining the team late in the season and leading the Browns to a 4-1 record and a wildcard berth. He elevated the Browns’ passing attack to new heights by throwing for more than 300 yards in three consecutive games.
Flacco is aware that Deshaun Watson would start as quarterback if he were to return to Cleveland, though.
The Browns have made it known that they want Flacco back as well, according to Noah Weiskopf of the OBR. Weiskopf continued, “Flacco’s camp is even willing to close a deal before the start of free agency to keep him off the market completely.”
