While meeting with the Steelers and two other teams, former Seahawk Russell Wilson surprises fans at the airport.
Russell Wilson, a former quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks, is exploring the free-agent market before he is officially released by the Denver Broncos. Three teams are already in the running for Wilson’s third NFL destination.
Wilson is scheduled to visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday, according to many reports. Before his commercial flight to Pittsburgh on Friday morning, Wilson was seen at the Newark Airport in New Jersey, according to a tweet from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Wilson apparently made a lucky photo op with the flight attendants on his jet, and fans at the airport were able to snap some photos with him.
But despite all the excitement leading up to Pittsburgh, Wilson was leaving New Jersey on Thursday following what ESPN’s Adam Schefter described as “an exploratory meeting” with the New York Giants.
Wilson is reportedly getting ready to visit with a few additional teams, “possibly” the Las Vegas Raiders, according to Schefter. Wilson’s last two seasons in Denver ended badly, but other teams obviously see a place for the 35-year-old player in their plans for the upcoming campaign, despite what some fans of the game may think of him.
Wilson completed 297 of 447 passes for 3,070 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions in 2023. In addition, he gained 341 yards and three additional touchdowns on 80 rushes.
