Davis reaches a special deal to share his ideas for Little Rock radio in the future.
He was asked if he intended to return to Arkansas for his COVID season the following year during his weekly appearance on “The Zone” on 103.7 The Buzz in Little Rock. Given that fellow Razorbacks guard Khalif Battle has been subjected to incessant scrutiny since seemingly disclosing his plans last night, and given that Eric Musselman often makes the final choice rather than the player, Davis opted to keep things under wraps.
“I am uncertain,” Davis remarked. “I think it’s a terrific question that you guys are asking me. We’re just taking each day as it comes, you know. allowing the team’s plan to develop organically and handling things day by day. It’s an honor if it was [his last home game], and even if it wasn’t, I’m thrilled to be back and able to play, but for now, things are moving along day by day.”
Ever the hustler, host Justin Acri skillfully maneuvered the seasoned Davis into a trap. He questioned the senior guard for the Hogs about his favorite dish out of the blue, without any explanation or build-up. Davis remarked, “I like Ruth’s Chris.” “Steak, good job. a perfectly cooked steak.”
For a brief while, Acri’s performance seemed to suffer from the well-done steak comment, but he immediately got back on track after realizing his goals.”I’ll reveal to you what,” Acri declared. “I will take you out to Ruth’s Chris for three well done steaks if you tell me right now you’re coming back next season.”
You could almost hear Davis’s thoughts churning across the radio waves as he imagined the sizzling, perfectly seasoned piece of steak smoking softly on a plate in front of him. Davis was obviously tempted by this. The idea was starting to consume him.
“Well, how long have I got?” Inquiring, Davis did. “I think we only have like two minutes left,” Acri replied. We’ll accept it if you choose to share the news with us here. You’re prepared for our weekly calls in the upcoming season, and we can already arrange this for next year.”
Davis used his cards well because he didn’t want to blow a possible NIL deal. Unbeknownst to him, he was ready to make a small concession, regardless of whether he came back. “When I figure it out, y’all guys will be the first to know,” Davis stated. “How about that?”
“I like to hear things like that. Acri responded, “I’ll take it.” “What the heck, three steaks anyway? I will gladly pay for the steaks if we are the first to discover that it doesn’t get out before then.” Davis clinched the deal with a guarantee after securing a verbal agreement for three servings of perfectly cooked, meaty gold. “If it does, it’s been leaked by somebody else, and it’s false information,” Davis stated.
