In a parody of Sen. Katie Britt’s SOTU reply on “SNL,” Scarlett Johansson portrays her.
Known by her stage name Mrs. Colin Jost, Scarlett Johansson made a brief appearance on the show during its cold open, portraying Sen. Katie Britt of Alabama in her much-discussed GOP response to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union speech on Thursday.
Johansson stood in her kitchen, one hand firmly lifted, as Britt criticized Biden’s “performative” traits (while vehemently denying any performance of her own).
Johansson said, “You see, I’m not just a mother.” “I’m the crazy b—h in the Target parking lot, married, and a mother.”
Johansson pulled out a teacup and swirled it at the end of the comedy, setting off a well-timed parody of Jordan Peele’s Oscar-winning racial satire “Get Out,” which made Kenan Thompson freeze and start to cry.
Prior to Johansson’s parody, Mikey Day returned to the podium as Joe Biden. He said to Punkie Johnson, who was portraying Vice President Kamala Harris, that he hoped she “didn’t skip leg day,” and she proceeded to sit, stand, sit, and stand throughout the speech.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson was represented by Michael Longfellow. Day-as-Biden noticed that Johnson shook his head each time Biden brought up his “predecessor,” “like he just accidentally caught 30 seconds of the show ‘Euphoria’.”
Star of “Dune: Part Two,” Josh Brolin, headlined the show with musical guest Arianna Grande. During Josh Brolin’s monologue, Brolin took a plunge into an actual ice bath.
