Injury Report: Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Memphis Grizzlies, the team’s roster move announced before the game
The Memphis Grizzlies announced the following public relations account before their Sunday game against the Oklahoma City Thunder:
“Today, the Memphis Grizzlies announced that they have called up guard DeJon Jarreau from the NBA G League’s Memphis Hustle to a 10-day contract. The deal’s parameters weren’t revealed in accordance with team policy.” During Jarreau’s G-League tenure, the Grizzlies added:
“Since he was acquired from the Capital City Go-Go via trade on December 26, Jarreau (6-5, 185) has played in 24 games (18 starts) for the Hustle during the NBA G League regular season, averaging 17.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, 7.1 assists, and 1.3 steals in 29.7 minutes. During the regular season, he led the Hustle with four triple-doubles (second in the team record book) and 11 double-doubles (tied for seventh in the NBA G League). The Grizzlies included additional context on Jarreau from his pre-League days, stating the following:
“After finishing his senior year at Houston and winning the 2020–21 AAC Defensive Player of the Year award, the 26-year-old native of New Orleans was not taken in the NBA Draft of 2021. He has participated in 65 NBA G League showcases and regular season games for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Texas Legends, Go-Go, and Hustle. He made one NBA appearance for the Indiana Pacers in the 2021–2022 season.”
Although Memphis has suffered a great deal from injuries this season, one benefit has been the opportunity to see individuals who otherwise would not have been selected. As a result, a few players have emerged who could be useful to the Grizzlies next season. Jarreau will attempt to be the next to join that group.
