Promising Path: Fiji Bulikula Women’s Rugby League Shines in Pherrus Trophy and International Tours
Coach Joe Rabele is excited about this potential and aims to nurture these talented individuals further. In order to provide them with valuable experience and exposure, he has organized a five-match tour to Australia this week. The tour will see the Fiji Bulikula team face off against regional teams such as Papua New Guinea, Samoa, and Tonga.
Rabele expressed his pride at witnessing the growing interest in women’s rugby leagues in Fiji. This year, he plans to select the best 20 players for intensive training and preparation ahead of their game against Tonga.
Additionally, Rabele shared that the Fiji Secondary Schools Girl’s Rugby League side will be hosting Tonga for an international test match scheduled for May. This match forms part of their comprehensive development program.
Meanwhile, it is worth noting that the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League (FSSRL) will also be sending a boys’ team to Sydney this week to participate in a regional tournament. Their first game is set to take place tomorrow.
In conclusion, through competitions like the Pherrus Trophy and opportunities for international matches against notable teams like Tonga, Samoa, and Papua New Guinea; women’s rugby league in Fiji is steadily progressing towards greater heights under Coach Joe Rabele’s guidance.
