WCC Player of the Week is Jalen Green of the Rockets.
Jalen Green, a guard for the Houston Rockets, was named the Western Conference Player of the Week by the NBA on Monday afternoon for the games he played from March 11 to 17.
The previous week saw the Rockets go 3-0, outscoring their opponents by an average of 10.7 points. Alperen \engün’s absence contributed to the Rockets’ success, as Green emerged as the team’s best player.
Throughout the week, he shot 45.8 percent from beyond the arc and 49.2 percent from the field, averaging team-highs of 26.3 points and 8.7 rebounds. Green had a career-high 37 points in the Rockets’ 135-119 victory over the Washington Wizards on Thursday night, which was his best game.
After the Rockets defeated the Cavaliers, Fred VanVleet remarked, “That’s all him; he’s been rolling.” “I must take all the credit for him. He’s making excellent shots and exudes confidence and swagger.
“He’s improving in his threes. But he’s been playing solid basketball at both ends of the court for some time now. He is a defender. He is proud of the way he bounces back. It’s easier on everyone the better he plays. He has been acting a fool.”
Green is the second Rockets player to win Player of the Week thus far this year. \engün in Week 11 of the regular season was the first. James Harden was the previous Rocket to win the award before Green and Şengün in November 2019. This season, Green is the only Rocket to have played in every one of the 67 games. 3.4 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 18.7 points per game are his averages.
