‘A-game’ and mentally vigilant, Drua are ‘fitter’- Byrne
“We are aware of the Waratahs’ cleverness and their strong line defense. At a press conference in Nadi, he stated, “We just need to stay alive for any little opportunities that present themselves for us as well as any little plays that the Waratahs might have.”
“We simply remain vigilant for that. They have the potential to be a cunning team that seizes the chance. Thus, all we have to do is focus mentally for eighty minutes. “However, given our training this week, I’m confident we’ll be prepared for that. We just need to try our hardest every week, which is what I believe we need to do on Saturday. I think we’ll have a fun game if we bring that into the contest with our physicality.”
Even though Drua has played well in the final quarters of their last four games, they have only triumphed once, at home against the Crusaders two Saturdays ago.
Byrne stated that his guys only need to maintain their consistency as they are match-fit.
“Our levels of fitness seem to be decent. In the second half, we outscored Moana and the Blues while holding the Crusaders to 0 points. And the final 20 minutes we played against the Chiefs last week were excellent.
We’re unquestionably fit enough, so I don’t worry about that. We’ve put a lot of effort into getting fitter than we were the previous year.
“We arguably had the most numbers in the last ten games against the Chiefs, and we competed fairly, particularly in the last 20 minutes. We are thus measuring their fitness fairly well based on all the data.”
He claimed that this week has also been devoted to enhancing their defense and considering their offensive alternatives. In addition to putting a lot of effort into our defensive schemes, we’ll also be examining our ball handling techniques. If we can grill them a lot and we need to shore up our edge defense a little,” he stated.
He claimed that several players last week made a mistake by going to the wrong area of the field, which led to numerous problems both out wide and on the opposing side of the field.
“We just have to grind and rely on individuals making good decisions under pressure.”
In order to move the ball up over the advantage lines and pose questions to the Waratahs’ defense, Byrne thinks the team’s offensive strategy this week will revolve around getting back early onside as ball receivers.
“We must return to the line as soon as possible, establish our position early, and demand that the Waratahs make a lot of tackles. That will likely be very important to us at home, in my opinion.
“To ensure that we can play both sides of the ruck and that we are positioned early across the field. I believe that’s where we excel, and that’s what we intend to do.”
