Coach Tyronn Lue of the Clippers criticizes his “soft” stars
The LA Clippers were the league’s top team and the hottest club not so long ago. As we fast-forward to the present, they are unable to connect two games.
Their second unit took a serious hit when Russell Westbrook was absent, and they were unable to turn things around when he came back. With their two victories coming against the Portland Trail Blazers (19-53), they have now dropped four of their previous six games.
On Monday night, their problems in the late game were once again evident. In the fourth quarter, the Indiana Pacers, who were playing their second night of back-to-back games, ran them off the court. Coach Tyronn Lue was blunt in his remarks after the defeat.
The Clippers Are “Soft,” According to Tyronn Lue
Do we have an identity as of yet? Yes, I believe. Lue stated, “We’re sensitive. If you’d like, you may refer to that as an identity. Our mental and physical toughness have to increase. But we are distinct individuals. We had a really strong identity when we were 26–5. You can’t be selective about when you take the lead.
You are not able to choose when to become an individual. When you wish to act morally, you cannot decide when to act morally. So long as you follow the correct actions each night, everything else will work itself out. We really do have an identity, so we should revisit it.
In response to James Harden and Paul George’s assertions that the club lacks a distinct identity, those remarks were made. The coach doesn’t feel compelled to instruct them on how to handle this challenging stretch, though:
Lue remarked, “They’re grown men. “They recognize that we are not playing with second- or third-year guys. I’m not the kind of man who likes to call someone out or point out their mistakes. To avoid doing that, please. For you people, that’s a story. They are aware of what the f— is. They know what their responsibilities are. All things considered, we just must improve.
