Fans express concern over rumored PSL fees at the upcoming Buffalo Bills stadium, “Pricing out the Bills Mafia.”
“Buffalo are blue collar fans… like hardworking middle-class people that cannot afford this,” Paddock stated to 7 News. Living in Rochester, Paddock has supported the Bills since she was a young child. She loves to take her two sons to the games and now has club tickets, but she’s not sure she’ll be able to continue doing so.
“Everyone feels like they are pricing out the Bills Mafia, and they want to fill those seats with corporations,” she stated. An increasing number of NFL teams are requiring customers to pay PSLs up front before they can get season tickets.
“I have three kids I have to put through college, and two of my boys are die-hard fans, and they’re not happy that mom’s going to walk away,” she stated. While some teams around the nation are known to charge close to $50,000 for a PSL for club seats, the Bills did not confirm any specific numbers on Monday.
Club seating PSLs in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which opened for business in 2017 and is home to the Falcons, cost from $11,000 to $47,000 per seat. The PSL begins at the more reasonable $500 for regular seats.
Nellie Drew, a law professor at the University of Buffalo and the head of the UB Center for the Advancement of Sport, stated, “It’s a new concept in Buffalo.” “We haven’t had it in the past, and historically, we’ve had one of the lowest ticket prices in the league because we’ve had an old stadium.”
Season ticket holder David Shores, who travels to Buffalo multiple times a year to see games, says he is still awaiting word on the cost. He hopes there will be more transparency with the bills.
“Why is the price of every PSL stadium kept a secret? Why disclose only the exorbitant club pricing? He said to 7 News, “Why not let every season ticket holder see what they have in mind for their seats?
It will “take quite some time” to get through them all, according to a statement made by the Bills earlier this year. They are revealing each one to season ticket holders one at a time.Paddock is hoping the Bills figure out a more cost-effective scheme for supporters like her and her family.
“I just wish the organization would listen to us and lower the cost, offer different payment options, or do something to get that stadium filled with the fans that deserve to be there and should be there,” she continued.
