Miami: Running back Raheem Mostert’s original contract with the Miami Dolphins was reworked, and his agent made the announcement on Friday. Mostert’s new contract, which is valued at $9.075 million, will keep him in Miami until the 2025 season, according to a source who spoke with ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Mostert exceeded his seven years of NFL production in just two seasons with the Dolphins, rushing for a total of 1,903 yards and 21 touchdowns. In addition, he hauled in 56 receptions for 377 yards and five scores., Mostert committed to a two-year deal with the Dolphins in 2022, and during that season, he set career highs by rushing for 891 yards on 183 runs. With 1,012 yards on 209 carries and a league-leading and franchise-high 18 running touchdowns in 2023, he crushed those figures. In addition, his 21 touchdowns in 2023 set a franchise record.
By September of 2024, the Florida native will be 32 years old, yet in his career, he has only attempted 645 rushes. Since Mostert joined the team in 2015, 26 running backs have attempted at least 1,000 rushes. Only three, though, score higher than Mostert’s 5.2 yards per carry on average.
As the fastest running back tandem in the NFL, Mostert, in his third season with the Dolphins, is expected to split carries with De’Von Achane, the rookie sensation from the previous campaign. Last season, three of the ten fastest ball-carrier speeds in the league were attributed to Mostert and Achane.
