Quarterback Transfer Black Stripe Loses for Julian Sayin
Sayin hasn’t participated in a collegiate football season yet. After longtime head coach Nick Saban retired, the native of Carlsbad, California, chose to make a shift and join the Crimson Tide. Sayin will now start his college career over 630 miles north of his initial destination.
The freshman’s timing couldn’t be more ideal, as Ohio State is now searching for a starting quarterback for the upcoming campaign. Having coached the Kansas State Wildcats in each of the previous four seasons, Howard is the unofficial favorite.
Sayin was the top-rated recruit at his position and ranked No. 9 on the ESPN 300 for the Class of 2024. Sayin, who was listed by ESPN as a “dual-threat” quarterback, earned offers from 22 universities, including Ohio State, Michigan, and Notre Dame.
Sayin will play his first game at Ohio Stadium, where he will spend eight Saturdays starting in late August, at the Ohio State Spring Game in 2024. There is currently no word on how Sayin, Howard, Brown, and Kienholz will split up the playing time. Although many believe Sayin has little chance of leading Ohio State’s attack this year, he is still very much in the running.
