The survival game’s creators at Palworld “hate” that it is compared to Helldivers 2 “in pursuit of 2010-era ‘console war’ updoot farming.”
This week, it was verified that Helldivers 2, which is limited to the PC and PS5, is officially the fastest-selling video game in history for Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Undoubtedly, Arrowhead Game Studios has achieved a tremendous feat with over 12 million units sold since its debut in February, smashing the previous record held by Santa Monica Studio’s God of War Ragnarok.
On the other hand, some social media users compared the success of Helldivers 2 to that of Palworld, which, in its first month of release amassed 10 million players on Xbox and sold 15 million copies on Steam. It even became the second game to reach over two million concurrent players on Steam.
Palworld’s initial popularity was undeniable, but Bucky publicly disagrees with the survival game being exploited to incite console conflicts. In response to a tweet that made comparisons between the two, he adds, “I hate everything about this post and the replies on it.”
“Seeing our name being used on Twitter to further the ‘console war’ updoot farming of the 2010s breaks my heart. Sadistic. Consider all the time you could have spent playing video games rather than doing this.”
Palworld is still in early access, but it’s always being updated with new features like balance changes and bug patches. We’ll be able to explore the Pal Arena at some point this year. First revealed last month, it will let users and their friends engage in PvP combat in what presently appears to be a gun-filled Palworld version of Pokemon Stadium. We’ll have to wait and see what’s in store for now though, as we’ve only seen a brief preview of the film.
