Marshall’s basketball career has spanned 18 years, filled with highs and lows, valuable lessons, and unforgettable experiences. “It has been my whole life for the past 18 years, I appreciate all the highs and lows, the lessons I have learned, and everything in between. Five-year-old me would be so proud of how far I have come and all that I have experienced,” she reflected.
In her message, Marshall expressed deep appreciation for her time at Iowa, where she realized her dreams and achieved more than she ever imagined. “Most importantly, I think about the journey I have been on these last 5 years at the place where I was able to live out my dreams and accomplish so much more than I could’ve even imagined. Thank you, Iowa and Hawkeye Nation, for being my home away from home, for showing me so much love and support, & for giving me the best ending to the sport that has shaped my life.”
Marshall’s decision to retire from basketball marks a significant transition as she shifts her focus to a new career path. She plans to pursue a master’s degree in occupational therapy in North Carolina, a field she is passionate about and excited to explore.
Her backcourt partner, Caitlin Clark, also took to social media to express her support and affection. “I love you forever and always. My girl for life,” Clark wrote, highlighting the strong bond they shared both on and off the court.
