Kadyn Proctor discusses his reasons for moving from Iowa to Alabama a second time with 247Sports.
Proctor was committed to the Hawkeyes for the majority of his recruiting process, but at the final minute, he decided to sign with the Alabama Crimson Tide. Proctor returned home to Iowa after his first year at Alabama, where he was welcomed with open arms. Still, he took off again and set fire to bridges all around the state.
Many were perplexed as to why Proctor played Iowa twice, and many were angry and frustrated. He discussed his choice with 247Sports, which Alex Scarborough reported on.
“It’s something I regret,” he declared. It’s most likely among the worst choices I’ve ever made in my life. Since I had a lot of people who loved me here and were trying to convince me that this was the ideal location for me, I really wasn’t giving it much thought. I was not actually sitting there and listening to Coach [Kalen] DeBoer and the staff as they tried to persuade me to stay. I was determined to return home, and there was no way I could be persuaded otherwise.
“That even came from my parents, but they just said, ‘Well, you’re going to find out for yourself.'” And that’s precisely what took place. I acknowledged them. I responded, “You’re right.” I’m at a loss for words other than to admit that you’re correct and I was wrong. 247Sports’ Alex Scarborough.
In the midst of Nick Saban’s retirement, Proctor left Alabama. He made the decision to head back to Iowa, where he was acquainted, since the Crimson Tide was in disarray. He returned to Alabama with the intention of making amends—but to the Crimson Tide, not the Hawkeyes.
He traveled to Alabama’s football stadium and proceeded straight to DeBoer’s office after logging onto the transfer site, where he apologized in person. He apologized for not listening to them. “I’m prepared to return and give this team my all.”
Proctor let out a sigh. He remarked, “I’m not really the type of person to do that, so it was humbling.” “But I realized I really didn’t listen, so I felt like that was the right thing to do.”247Sports, Scarborough
After the chaos subsided, Iowa proceeded. Prior to the 2024 season, they started concentrating on the players that were already employed by them. A bitter taste lingered in the mouths of numerous Iowa supporters after the Kadyn Proctor scandal. Looking forward is now all that is required of Proctor and the Hawkeyes.
