B.J. Thompson is “trending upward” at the Kansas City Chiefs OTAs following a heart episode.
He’s on the upswing. “His agent, Chris Turner, who was in Kansas City with Thompson, and I have been in contact,” Fowler stated on SportsCenter. “Turner stated that he was comatose for some time following the incident on Thursday, but as of yesterday afternoon, he was alert and responding.
The team is ecstatic because, from what I’ve heard from team sources, it was just traumatizing. That particular team meeting took place, during which. In a really huge setting with dozens of players and coaches, they were left shaken and forced to try to sort things out after it all went down.
It was mentioned that two players in particular, the long snapper James Winchester and the kicker Harrison Butker, assumed leadership positions in an attempt to simply calm the room. According to what I’ve been informed, the medical personnel were fantastic, entering the fight at an early stage. Now that Thompson is doing better, everyone is moving on, and things appear to be improving.
Against the Chargers in January, the second-year defender made two tackles in his lone game as a rookie for the Chiefs. In Super Bowl LVIII, he and Kansas City shared the championship ring.
Thompson was selected by the Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Stephen F. Austin. Thompson, who was born in Arkansas, began his professional career at Baylor before moving to SFA in 2020. For the Lumberjacks, he had an instant effect.
2020 saw him get 8.5 tackles for loss and six sacks; 2021 saw him record 12.5 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks. Thompson recorded 23 stops, five sacks, and two forced fumbles in 2022, his last season before declaring for the draft.
As a freshman, he participated in nine games, with one start, while attending Baylor. Despite playing in ten games in 2018, he only managed two starts. With four sacks, 5.5 TFL, and 15 total tackles, he was second on the team in finishing.
