George Kittle of the 49ers makes a subdued demand of Christian McCaffrey following the RB’s new contract.
As the 2024 season approaches, the San Francisco 49ers will face a difficult scenario. The Niners are going for the Super Bowl, something they were unable to accomplish in 2023–2024, and they have extremely high expectations and little room for error.
Christian McCaffrey, a running back for the 49ers, received golf clubs as a gift from the team’s legend, George Kittle, who was watching McCaffrey’s new contract, made a subdued demand of him on the Dan Patrick Show.
Kittle made his plea in the midst of McCaffrey’s declaration of the “Madden curse” following his most recent selection. Kittle also mentioned how, by postseason time, he had become more involved in the passing game.
Kittle and McCaffrey have a clear plan in mind: let each player’s performance on the field speak for itself while they keep making waves to try and win the team’s sixth Super Bowl.
Run CMC is Kittle’s request.
Kittle recalled CMC’s Christmas gift to the 49ers offense when he spoke on the Dan Patrick Show. For the former Stanford Cardinal RB, Kittle has a far more straightforward—or complicated, depending on your point of view—request.
Kittle responded, “Well, he did receive golf clubs for the entire offense for Christmas, so he’s doing all right in that regard.” “Those are fantastic clubs. “No, aside from that, he’ll take care of me with perhaps another 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns.
The McCarthy-Kittle relationship, The 49ers offense will almost definitely continue to rank among the best in the NFL next season and beyond, with Kittle and McCaffrey in tow.
The 49ers seem content to ride or die with both of them again next season, as Kittle and McCaffrey are among the most formidable running back-tight end tandems in recent NFL history. Looking at the 49ers’ projected depth chart for the upcoming season, it’s clear that there aren’t many new faces at the skill positions.
A three-point Super Bowl loss is nothing to be embarrassed of, given the skill and experience of the 49ers’ opponent, the Kansas City Chiefs. However, behind Brock Purdy, Deebo Samuel, Branon Aiyuk, and the rest of the team’s roster, the 49ers’ offense faltered when it mattered most.
Season-long games were never an issue for McCaffrey; the main goal should always be to produce huge plays in crucial games. Kittle is right to ask for Run CMC, but in the end, it might just be a smokescreen. Ahead of what may turn out to be the mother of all Super Bowl championship runs, the 49ers should be expected to make every effort to ensure that their best players are fit and ready for action come postseason time.
