Arne Slot is optimistic that Liverpool will continue to succeed under Jurgen Klopp.
In advance of his first season in command at Anfield, Arne Slot projected a seamless transition for Liverpool’s players and supporters, encouraging them to continue where they left off under Jurgen Klopp.
The 45-year-old, who officially started work on June 1, commended his predecessor for ushering in a “fantastic era” for the Premier League, with the 2019 Champions League victor having created the legendary rivalry between Pep Guardiola and Manchester City.
Nine years into his tenure, Klopp announced his resignation at the end of the previous season, making room for former Feyenoord boss Slot to take over.
“There is a change,” he remarked in a message to supporters while doing his first interview since joining the team, speaking to the club’s website. The players are still the same, so hopefully there won’t be a significant change.
“Our fan base remains unchanged. Furthermore, it will greatly simplify my life if they both perform the same task.
“In the next season, I anticipate seeing them once more. The players should also do this. To steer the team in the best direction possible, I shall exert every effort within my capacity.
Liverpool finished runners-up to Guardiola’s City twice during Klopp’s tenure, and in 2020 they won the Premier League for the first time in thirty years.
With a record number of points for a team that did not win the league, they were engaged in a thrilling race with their opponents in each of those two seasons, 2018–19 and 2021/22.
Due to Klopp’s efforts, Slot stated the team is well-positioned for him to take over with the team challenging at the top of the division. Slot cited the German’s “tremendous job” in keeping Liverpool a consistent title contender.
