2025 Super Bowl halftime in New Orleans will feature Kendrick Lamar as the main performer.
Kendrick Lamar is going to the big game. At the 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl halftime show, the 37-year-old rapper “Not Like Us” is scheduled to perform. Using a YouTube video that featured Lamar on a football field in front of a massive American flag, he broke the news on Sunday.
In the video, he introduces himself: “My name is Kendrick Lamar, and I’ll be performing at Super Bowl LIX.” “When do you plan to arrive? I’m hoping so. The NFL released a promotional poster on X with Lamar sitting on a football field, and Roc Nation, Apple Music, and the NFL all confirmed the announcement in a news release.
According to Lamar’s remark from Sunday, “rap music is still the most impactful genre to date.” “And I’ll be present to remind everyone of that. The correct one was chosen by them.” Seth Dudowsky, NFL’s head of music, observed that, “few artists have impacted music and culture as profoundly as Kendrick Lamar,” adding, “Time and time again, Kendrick has proven his unique ability to craft moments that resonate, redefine, and ultimately shake the very foundation of hip-hop.”
As part of a star-studded lineup that also included Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and 50 Cent, Lamar previously performed during the Super Bowl halftime show in 2022.
Lamar, who has been in the news for a public spat with Drake, is having a great year. Lamar’s “Not Like Us” is one of the back-and-forth disc recordings in which the two rappers have traded jabs.
“Not Like Us,” which was released in May, debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. It is this Wednesday’s 2024 MTV Video Music Awards’ nominee for song of the year. During a Juneteenth concert in California, Lamar gave five performances of the popular song.
When Lamar made an appearance on Future and Metro Boomin’s song “Like That” in March, the conflict between him and Drake intensified. Lamar denied that there was a “big three” in rap, consisting of J. Cole, Drake, and himself. He rapped, “It’s just big me.” Drake responded with a few of his own trash tunes, such as “Taylor Made Freestyle.”
Over his career, Kendrick Lamar has received 17 Grammy Awards. Usher, together with Alicia Keys, H.E.R., will.i.am, Lil Jon, Jermaine Dupri, and Ludacris, hosted the Super Bowl halftime show in 2024.The Caesars Superdome in New Orleans will host Super Bowl LIX on February 9, 2025.
