‘Dolly Parton looks better at 77 than I have ever seen her look in my life,’ claims an admirer.
Dolly Parton reminded fans that age is just a number during a halftime show performance dressed as an iconic Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.
The 77-year-old country music superstar appeared at Thursday’s NFL game between the Washington Commanders and the host Dallas Cowboys. Parton performed “Jolene,” “9 to 5” and her own rendition of Queen’s “We Are The Champions” at the Thanksgiving match.
While Parton delivered a stunning performance, it was her Dallas Cowboys cheerleader attire that drew everyone’s attention. The singer was spotted sporting a customized version of the iconic cheerleader attire at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Her outfit was comprised of the team’s distinctive blue cropped top, a white starry vest, and matching white tiny shorts. Parton wore a transparent, bedazzled catsuit underneath her crop top and shorts.
Fans instantly took to social media after Parton’s halftime show performance to give their thoughts on her unforgettable fashion moment. “If there’s one thing we can count on in this world, it’s that Dolly is going to give iconic looks and performances until the moment she ascends to heaven,” It didn’t take long, however, for some online trolls to mock her Dallas Cowboys cheerleader outfit, as one user put it: “Some people are slinging insults at Dolly because she’s 77 years old and doesn’t act like an old lady.”
After the halftime show, CBS analyst and former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo seemed to enthuse about Parton’s performance, according to several fans. “She looks amazing,” Romo commented during the NFL game. “She’s fantastic. “Is there anyone who doesn’t like Dolly Parton?”
From her iconic rhinestone jackets to her long, blonde hair, the country music diva has been known to show off some outstanding fashion during her career. Parton recently admitted that she was encouraged early in her career to “tone down” her style.
She mentioned that her “dear friend” and fellow musician Chet Atkins once advised she soften her appearance during the four-part series What Would Dolly Do? Radio on Apple Music and Apple Podcasts. “He said, ‘Dolly, I really don’t believe that people are going to take you seriously as a singer and songwriter unless you tone down your look,'” Parton told host Kelleigh Bannen. “‘Well, sure,’ I said.
Mr Atkins, I’ll remember that. Thank you for your help.’ And, of course, I’ve just gotten worse.” “Years later, after I became a star, he sidled up beside me and said, ‘Now ain’t you glad you listened to my good advice?'” she says. When Bannen asked Parton what she would tell someone today if they asked her to modify her appearance, she said, “I’d say, ‘Go to hell.'” ‘I’m not doing it.'”
The “I Will Always Love You” singer went on to say that a person’s distinctive style should be whatever “makes them happy.”
“My true belief with most things, you’ve got to really find out who you are, what makes you happy, what you’re comfortable in, and if you feel like you look your best, according to your rules, then you are going to do your best,” Parton went on to say. “I truly believe that.” And I believe everyone has their own special interests. That is what fashion means to me.”
