Throughout the offseason, Nikola Jokic has been unfairly critiqued as not really caring for the game of basketball. What critics forget is that one doesn’t become a two-time MVP and one-time Finals MVP without loving the game – Aaron Gordon agrees.
Aaron Gordon demonstrated how much Nikola Jokic means to the game of basketball and what a great leader he is in an episode of Michael Porter Jr.’s “Curious Mike” podcast.
Gordon remarked, “You know what I mean? Jokic is a great leader.” “He arrives on schedule. He arrives on time, if not early, every day. He gets his reps in when he works out in the morning. He enters the game, plays the game, and then he lifts weights when it’s over.
He works without sabbath, all day long. He shares the ball and is humble. What more could you possibly want for when you have a two-time MVP and a single-time MVP of the Finals who are both so giving? Others must also exhibit selflessness. Everyone needs to be selfless if he can accomplish it.”
It is no coincidence that Nikola Jokic is the greatest player in the world. Fans shouldn’t discount his contributions on the court just because they witness him acting sardonically in front of the camera all the time. The Denver Nuggets’ success isn’t a coincidence. Critics will eventually have to accept that and acknowledge the years of hard work that Jokic and the Nuggets have put in.
