After being released by the Bengals, AJ McCarron rejoins the NFL
On Wednesday, the Bengals released him. Last spring, McCarron was a member of the Battlehawks. On September 13, 2023, he signed with the Bengals practice squad. On December 4, he was added to the active roster. McCarron made two appearances for Cincinnati. Watch the video below for his announcement:
Although AJ McCarron hasn’t accomplished much in the NFL, in 2023 he was named league MVP in the XFL. And in 2024, he’ll rejoin his XFL squad in a different league.
McCarron’s signing with the St. Louis Battlehawks has been announced by the UFL. Playing with the Battlehawks, McCarron won the XFL MVP award last season. This season, the Battlehawks are in the UFL, a league created by the union of the USFL and the XFL.
After being cut by the Bengals this week, McCarron, 33, was free to sign with the Battlehawks right away. He stated that he preferred starting in the XFL over being a backup in the NFL during the previous season, and this year he will start in the UFL.
In 2014, McCarron was selected by the Bengals in the third round out of Alabama. In addition to his two spells with the Bengals and his current two stints with the Battlehawks, he has also had stints with the Bills, Raiders, Texans, and Falcons.
