Excellent Injury Update for the Atlanta Braves: Acuna Jr. Should Be Well for Opening Day
Acuña’s meniscus irritation diagnosis has been verified by Los Angeles physician Dr. Neal ElAttrache, and he is “expected” to be ready for Opening Day.
He won’t be allowed to play in any spring training games anymore, but over the coming weeks, he will play baseball more and more.
During a rundown against the Minnesota Twins last week, Acuña initially hurt his right knee. After playing two more innings in that game, he went through batting practice and warmup routines the following day and informed the team about his injured knee. Acuña was left out of the lineup that day and sent to be evaluated by a local physician, who also made the original diagnosis.
The team decided to send Ronald back to the same surgeon, Dr. Neal ELAttrache of Los Angeles, for a follow-up examination because the injury was to the same knee that required surgery following an ACL injury sustained against the Miami Marlins in July 2021.
Braves fans can also breathe a little bit better today, as the initial diagnosis has been confirmed. Assuming all goes as planned during the ramp-up phase, Opening Day versus Philadelphia on March 28th will feature Ronald Acuña Jr. at the top of the lineup once again.
