Corey Dennis, a former coach of Ohio State football quarterbacks, is joining Utah as an analyst.
After hiring Bill O’Brien as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach last month, the Buckeyes decided not to keep Dennis on staff as an on-field coach. However, according to a press release announcing O’Brien’s hire, Dennis was supposed to move into an undefined position with the program.
Former coach Urban Meyer’s son-in-law, Dennis, 31, initially enrolled in the Buckeyes as an intern in 2015. Dennis, who played wide receiver for the Yellow Jackets for four seasons after graduating from Georgia Tech in 2014, was hired for his first coaching position.
Dennis was scheduled to leave for Colorado State in 2020, but not before coach Ryan Day appointed him as quarterbacks coach. He was eventually promoted to graduate assistant and senior quality control coach. He took over as the quarterbacks’ coach in 2019 from Mike Yurcich.
Dennis was renowned for his efforts on the recruiting trail as the Buckeyes continued to secure blue-chip talent at the position. During his time, he worked with great quarterbacks Justin Fields and C.J. Stroud.
Longtime Utes coach Kyle Whittingham is related to Meyer; he succeeded him at Utah in 2005 after serving as his defensive coordinator. The Utes, along with Arizona, Arizona State, and Colorado, are joining Arizona in the Big 12, but they were among the best teams in the Pac-12 in recent years, winning conference titles in 2022 and 2021.
Considering that O’Brien has been connected to Boston College’s head coaching position, it’s probable that the Buckeyes will be forced to go elsewhere this offseason for a quarterback coach. He was the offensive coordinator for the New England Patriots during the previous season. He is a native of Massachusetts.

I think it’s amazing that Utah just hired Corey Dennis, and Ole Miss just hired hired him as their new qb coach. Ain’t life funny? That’s some great reporting!😁
