Suns Manager Frank Vogel Is Facing Pressure
Evan Sidery of Forbes confirmed a feeling that’s starting to spread throughout the league: Vogel’s employment isn’t guaranteed to end after only one season without a long postseason run.
He posted on Twitter/X, saying, “There is a growing buzz around Frank Vogel’s job security as the Suns’ head coach.” “After just one season, Vogel might lose his job if Phoenix is unable to advance past the first round.
Since the All-Star break, the Suns are 13-11 and have a No. 15 net rating.
“Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal are also being outscored by 4.4 points per 100 possessions (-4.4 NetRtg) when they share the floor during that span.”
John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports would also not rule out the possibility that Vogel may lose his job in the absence of a favorable conclusion for him. This is also consistent with the notion that the Suns are still interested in Los Angeles Clippers coach Tyronn Lue, who was supposedly at the top of Ishbia’s wish list the previous summer.
Lue’s contract with the Los Angeles Clippers is set to expire, and if the team leaves the playoffs early, it’s possible that the two sides may split ways. Vogel, by the record, has a remarkable basketball mind. Given the players, the Suns’ defense shouldn’t be as good or statistically dominant as it is, but Vogel’s tactical acumen and attention to detail have undoubtedly had a significant impact.
But Lue is unquestionably one of the association’s top five coaches. He is more in line with Ishbia’s long-term plans for the Suns. The locker room will give him their all in an attempt to make a huge comeback the following season.
Come June, will the Suns have had three different head coaches in as many seasons?
