Initially ranked No. 2 in the class, Smith has since eclipsed Dylan Raiola, a former Ohio State standout and current quarterback commit to the Georgia Bulldogs.

On Thanksgiving Day, Ohio State Buckeyes offensive line recruit Gabe VanSickle, formerly of Northwestern, committed to the team, adding to an already impressive class.Born and raised in Coopersville, Michigan, VanSickle chose Ohio State over Indiana, Northwestern, Bowling Green, and Central Michigan.
Prior to this month, Van-Sickle was devoted to Northwestern; however, following a trip to Columbus, he disengaged from the Wildcats. Then, two days later, he committed to the Buckeyes. Now ranked No. 2 in the nation, the Buckeye class is only surpassed by the Georgia Bulldogs, the two-time defending national champions.

Five-star receiver Jeremiah Smith, who was available during the Early Signing Period, is arguably the best recruit in the 2024 class and will be joining the Ohio State Buckeyes. Five-star cornerback Devin Sanchez of North Shore (Houston, Texas) is one of the top prospects in the 2025 class that the Ohio State Buckeyes are pursuing.Three separate crystal ball projections from 247 Sports, including those of national analyst Mike Roach and director of football recruiting Steve Wiltfong, indicate that Sanchez will commit to the Buckeyes on January 6.

The Buckeyes defeated the Purdue Boilermakers 41โ7, and in the process, 2025 St. Francis Academy (Baltimore, MD) cornerback Blake Woodby committed.Woodby selected the Ohio State Buckeyes over Clemson, Oregon, Tennessee, and Alabama. It came down to Oregon and Ohio State for him to decide.Woodby told On3, “It was a difficult decision because of my relationships with both of those coaching staffs.””I gave Ohio State and Oregon a lot of thought because I have strong relationships with their position coaches there. I ultimately decided on Ohio State because of the atmosphere I found there. It felt very much like me when I went there for the first time in the spring.

This week, the Ohio State Buckeyes have already suffered one loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. According to Hayes Fawcett of On3, four-star offensive tackle Geurby Lambert committed to Notre Dame on Tuesday. According to On3, the class of 2024’s No. 28 player picked the Fighting Irish over Boston College, Harvard, Ohio State, and Ohio State.
Jordan Seaton, an On3 five-star offensive tackle, is still on Ohio State’s roster, and Deontae Armstrong has committed as well.

Three-star edge rusher Eric Mensah, a product of the class of 2024, originally intended to attend in-state Virginia Tech, but he later changed his mind. Mensah became the 23rd commit in the cycle and the third defensive line commit when he announced on X Friday that he was decommitting from the Hokies and switching his pledge to Ohio State’s class of 2024.
“I would first like to start off with a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my journey in football [and] in finding the perfect school for me to continue my athletic career,” Mensah wrote in an article on X. “Secondly, I have respectfully chosen to withdraw from Virginia Tech after giving it some serious thought. I think it’s in my best interest after giving it a lot of thought and talking about it with my family, mentors, and coaches.
“After giving it careful thought, this decision was made. It was not made hastily. Finally, I would like to declare that I will be attending The Ohio State University to play football.”

The Ohio State Buckeyes were in the running for a player ranked in the top ten for the 2025 class, but they were unable to reach an agreement.According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, five-star defensive lineman Armondo Blount committed to Miami on Thursday. The best player in Florida selected the Hurricanes over USC, Florida State, Oklahoma, Ohio State, and Buckeyes.
Tavien St. Clair, the number three quarterback, is the only commitment the Buckeyes have in the class of 2025. They can use their crystal ball to get four-star tight end Emaree Winston to commit.

Despite McKinley’s announcement on Friday that he had committed to Texas A&M Aggies, the Buckeyes were unable to grab him away from Louisiana. Justin Scott and Eddrick Houston, two five-star defensive linemen, are still committed to Ohio State.
