Breaking yet another record, Caitlin Clark emerges as the NIL era’s best-selling athlete.
According to Fanatics and On3, the point guard for the Iowa Hawkeyes broke the NCAA women’s all-time scoring record last week, making her the best-selling NIL player since the beginning of athlete gear sales.
In that period, Clark not only beat her own record by a single day, but she also rose to the top of the NIL athlete salesperson rankings worldwide. To the joy of her fans, Caitlin Clark’s apparel sales after breaking the record exceeded those of any other athlete in nearly two years.
Based on On3’s NIL estimate, Clark’s current net worth is $910,000, up $93,000 from the time she broke the record. She is now ranked No. 30 overall in collegiate athletics and No. 3 in women’s basketball NIL value.
Nike’s commercial, which launched right after Clark’s game that broke records, is driving these purchases. Nike, an organization that Clark endorses, coined the expression “You break it, you own it” in response to Clark smashing the scoring record.
These jerseys have occasionally sold out and have needed to be refilled on a regular basis because basketball fans worldwide and Iowans alike want a piece of basketball history.
