Charles Barkley applauds Indiana Pacers for their “great trade” and says, “I love what they’re doing,” Pascal Siakam
The “great trade” that the Indiana Pacers made when they acquired Pascal Siakam from the Toronto Raptors, according to TNT Sports analyst Charles Barkley. The Pacers acquired the Power Forward as part of a historic three-team trade.
In addition to Bruce Brown and Jordan Nwora, the Raptors will also receive two 2024 first-round selections and a conditional first-round pick in 2026. In addition, Toronto dismissed Christian Koloko and will now sign Kira Lewis from the New Orleans Pelicans.
Lewis’s contract allows Indiana to match Siakam’s salary without having to add a player, and the Pacers will also receive a second-round selection from the Pelicans. Siakam has averaged more over 20 points per game in five of his eight NBA seasons since entering the league in 2016. He has also received two All-Star selections. The 29-year-old was crucial to the Raptors’ sole NBA championship victory in 2019, and Barkley is optimistic that the Pacers will get better if he signs a contract with the team.
“It’s a great trade, not a good trade for the Pacers,” he said on TNT Sports. “I think Indiana is accomplishing fantastic things. ‘You know what, let’s go for it,’ they say.”The only team you fear is the Boston Celtics; the Milwaukee Bucks are not a threat to you because we control the Bucks. Each time we’ve played them this year, we’ve won.”
The Sixers [Philadelphia 76ers] could use another player, in my opinion. Getting an All-Star on your squad is a rare opportunity. He’s playing alongside superior guys, therefore his stats will only rise.In the Eastern Conference rankings, I believe they might reach positions two or three. Although I adore this deal, I understand that Bruce Brown will be missed.
“I’m a big Bruce Brown fan and I think he’s going to get traded again to a contender because he’s such a terrific player.”The Celtics are the team to defeat, but we don’t fear anybody else, in my opinion when I consider the standards. We already own Milwaukee if I’m the Pacers. The Bucks are unable to guard anyone, so it’s a terrible matchup. Although they don’t guard anyone, the Pacers have improved their offensive game and are saying, “Let’s just outscore people.”
Thursday night’s 126-121 victory against the Sacramento Kings saw Siakam play no minutes for his new squad.
The Pacers have had a successful season thus far; in addition to being the highest-scoring club, they made it to the NBA In-Season tournament final.
