Chelsea legend ‘not ruling out comeback’ amid ‘interest’ in succeeding Manchester United manager Ten Hag
The summer of 2024 will be busy with managerial changes.
Supporters were not pleased with Boehly’s controversial decision to oust Tuchel from his post, and Chelsea’s dismal performance after his departure hardly makes up for it. After Julian Nagelsmann was fired in September 2022, Graham Potter took over as manager. However, he didn’t return to management until March 2022.
Tuchel barely survived a spectacular bottle job from Borussia Dortmund to win the Bundesliga, but he has not been as lucky this season as Bayer Leverkusen is now the clear favorite to win the German championship after going undefeated across all formats.
Due to Leverkusen’s recent success, Tuchel has declared his intention to retire at the end of the current campaign. In any case, it is anticipated that Bayer manager Xabi Alonso will take Tuchel’s position at the Allianz Arena, despite Liverpool’s strong desire to choose the Spaniard. This summer, the former Chelsea manager is keen to start a new career right away, and there are plenty of opportunities. There have been rumors about his returning to Stamford Bridge, and he is said to be drawn to the roles at Manchester United and Barcelona.
Another manager who will be leaving his position this summer is Blaugrana boss Xavi. Ten Hag is currently facing more criticism at Old Trafford, and the team’s new minority owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has not yet given him a public endorsement.
Ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino of Chelsea are presently tied for third place in the Premier League job race, behind only Vincent Kompany and Chris Wilder. It would be unexpected to see both of them in charge of their respective teams come season’s end.
“A return to Chelsea has never been ruled out by Thomas Tuchel.”
There is a lot of discussion about Tuchel returning to the team where he won the Champions League as pressure mounts on Pochettino and the soon-to-be free agent. Despite leaving on bad terms with Boehly, the German hasn’t ruled out a comeback, according to Sky Germany transfer expert Florian Plettenberg.
Plettenberg did go on to say that Tuchel is “interested in the project at Manchester United” and is keen to manage in Spain at some stage in his career.”Thomas Tuchel has never ruled out a return to FC Chelsea,” the user stated on X. He still has his sights set on the club.
His main goal in the near future is to rejoin the Premier League. He doesn’t think his work there is finished yet. He is reportedly considering the Manchester United project as well. He hopes to become a coach for FC Barcelona in Spain in the future.
